But get this right & it could be transformational for preventative & personalised healthcare. I know – as a father of a child with a rare disease & now through my work at @OHRareDisease – what this could mean. Well done @wesstreeting, keep going!

This is fantastic news & has my full backing. When I first launched @GenomicsEngland & started #Genomes100k, the idea of sequencing the genome of every newborn was a long way off. It proves how much science has come on, & costs down, to make this possible

Yesterday our Patchworkers heard from The. Rt. Hon. @wesstreeting MP as part of our Masterclass Programme.

Great discussion about leadership, education, and equal opportunities.

Thanks to Wes for hosting us at Parliament!

United with our allies, we're turning the screws on Putin

At the #G7Summit, Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer 🇬🇧 announced a raft of new sanctions to dismantle Russia's dangerous shadow fleet, starve Putin's war machine, and support #Ukraine 🇺🇦 to defend itself

As a Pakistani in Britain, today is a dark day.

Baroness Casey’s report confirms what victims have been saying for years: they were abused - raped, beaten, trafficked - and then failed by the very institutions meant to protect them. Girls, mostly white working-class and…

9years ago today Jo was murdered. I think about her every single day and am lucky to have so many wonderful memories, but the pain never goes. Whatever our views we must never normalise abuse, threats, intimidation and political violence #JoCox #Sisters #MoreInCommon

I know what it's like hearing the word "cancer” during diagnosis. The gut punch. The fear. The questions about what happens next – and crucially, how quickly.

The NHS saved my life. Now I'm fighting to ensure it's there – on time – to save yours.

Today we remember the 72 people who lost their lives & all those forever affected by the horrific Grenfell Tower fire.

Eight years on, the road to justice remains too long. I stand in solidarity with the bereaved, survivors & residents as they continue their fight for change. 💚

Eight years on from the Grenfell Tower tragedy we remember the 72 people who lost their lives and keep in our thoughts those who lost loved ones, the survivors and immediate community.

We must ensure what happened at Grenfell Tower is never forgotten and never happens again.

✨ It's Day 23 of our advent calendar where we're asking people what the NHS means to them.

Over Christmas our staff will be continuing to do what they do best - care for our patients.

I’m proud to celebrate our staff, who show true care and compassion all year round.

Merry Christmas.

I’ll be honest, it’s been a while since I needed to prove my age for a drink.

But for millions of young people across the UK, this change brings an easy, secure option for proving your ID.

Through digital technology like this we can make life easier and safer for everyone.

Since the general election, we’ve hit the ground running on the NHS: ending doctors’ strikes, starting to cut waiting lists, investing in GPs, hospices…

A lot done, a hell of a lot more to do. But as I look to 2025, I can see the road to recovery.

"The better you know your GP, and the better he or she knows you, the more chances you're going to get the right diagnosis, the right prescription." - @SKinnock.

Yesterday, we announced new proposals to improve continuity of care for patients.

Details: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/gp-reforms-to-cut-red-tape-and-bring-back-family-doctor

I am giving general practice the biggest uplift in years to build a neighbourhood health service and bring back the family doctor - so people can be cared for closer to their home by a familiar face.

It will take time, but investment + reform = results.

I am horrified by the atrocious attack in Magdeburg tonight.

My thoughts are with the victims, their families and all those affected.

We stand with the people of Germany.

Wes Streeting has announced the biggest boost to GP funding in years, with red tape stripped out and increased earnings for those who ensure patients can see the same doctor

We said that we'd bring back the family doctor, and that's what this Labour Government is doing with today's new £889m reform-driven investment in GP surgeries.

General Practice is the front door of the NHS.

The Tories broke it, we’re fixing it.

The biggest investment in General Practice for years and a reform agenda that will bring back the family doctor relationship that patients value, doctors love and drives better standards of care.

My letter to GPs on what we’re trying to achieve together 👇🏻

We promised reform, to bring back the family doctor and to invest more in primary care.

Today we’re announcing the biggest boost to GP funding for years - an extra £889 million! This, combined with reform, will deliver a better experience for patients and relief for GPs.

Potholes have plagued our roads for far too long.

Today we're investing a record £1.6bn to fill seven million more potholes next year.

People driving home for Christmas today can be safe in the knowledge that their journeys will be easier next year.

Potholes aren’t just annoying – they can risk lives and cost hundreds, even thousands of pounds on repairs.

That’s why we’re giving councils record funding to fix potholes and make our roads safer.

See a pothole in your area? Report it.

Very pleased to confirm that funding for adult social care will be boosted by an extra £200 million in 2025/26, as set out in the Local Government Finance Settlement.

I am fully focused on ensuring everybody can access the high-quality care they deserve.

Today @WesStreeting & I announced £100m to support hospices' buildings, kit & tech - the largest investment in a generation - and £26m for children & young people's hospices.

We're helping hospices - such as Haven House who we visited - deliver vital care
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/biggest-investment-into-hospices-in-a-generation

Today @SKinnock and I announce the biggest funding for hospices in a generation:

£100 million for improving buildings, kit and technology

£26 million grant for children and young people’s hospices

An early Christmas present for hospices that do a wonderful job for families.

Govt has announced £126 million over 2 years for hospices in England - capital spending for buildings and kit etc - inc £26 million for children’s hospice grant next year

Everyone has a role to play in helping the NHS get through a difficult winter ❄️

This success story is really down to two things: first and foremost the courage and tenacity of @meropemills, secondly great journalism projected into the ears of opinion formers and decision makers, which makes Today so powerful. @MishalHusain is one the best.

Dropping on your doorstep February 2025!

Our Green Industrial Partnership with Norway is about allies joining forces to deliver for working people.

My government's Plan for Change will seize the opportunities of clean energy to lower bills, secure supply, and create jobs.

The work of change continues with the first King’s Speech of the new Labour government.

A packed programme reflecting @Keir_Starmer’s ambition for a decade of national renewal.

We’ll create the first smoke-free generation and reform the Mental Health Act (that’s as old as me!).

It was a huge honour to Second the King's Speech in Parliament today 👑

I paid tribute to two fantastic women & political trailblazers who I'm privileged to count as friends, @HarrietHarman and @HackneyAbbott.

Because of them I, and so many others like me, have a voice today 👇🏾

Government is the opportunity to get things done. So it was great to join @wesstreeting to jointly begin upscaling the impact life sciences have on our nation’s health and economic growth
