This week I secured an Adjournment Debate on DWP office closures and questioned witnesses at the DWP Select committee on Health Assessments. Here are a few other things I have undertaken in Parliament and Glasgow South West as your MP this week.

My office is here to assist constituents living in Glasgow South West in various ways, from making private enquiries on your behalf, to raising matters publicly in the House of Commons.
Here are just some of the positive outcomes we achieved in the last week for local residents.

Thank you to #STUCyouth22 for inviting me to speak today at your Conference. 6 years ago I was in this conference as a delegate & it’s so great to be among my trade union family today as a councillor ✊♥️

Joined the March and Rally to offer full support and solidarity @RMT_Scotland picket line at Glasgow Central station. Fantastic to see so many Trade Unions offering support. #ToryRailStrikes

Our streetwork team are out and about again tonight for our usual Friday evening shift. Lots of the chat so far has been around our holiday programme that begins on Monday and how those not registered can sign up. Bring it on!! Thanks to players of @PostcodeLottery for funding

Thank you to constituents who attended my surgeries today in Corkerhill and at the Riverside Hall. Cases will be brought forward with relevant agencies.

I was proud to bring a debate to the floor of the House on plans for mass DWP office closures.
The announcement means that thousands of staff now face the risk of redundancy. UKGovt must scrap these closures. @pcs_union

DWP Office Closures – Full Debate https://chrisstephens.scot/2022/06/23/dwp-office-closures-full-adjournment-debate/

Thanks to @ChrisStephens for raising DWP closures and staff cuts today.
We notice the 'heroic effort' DWP staff made during the pandemic was acknowledged by the Minister.
Not much consolation to staff now facing redundancy

Sadly, I didn't get to enjoy much of the glorious weather in London this week due to a busy schedule. Here is a few of the things I have done as your MP this week.

My office is here to assist constituents living in Glasgow South West in various ways, from making private enquiries on your behalf, to raising matters publicly in the House of Commons.
Here are just some of the positive outcomes we achieved in the last week for local residents.

Our streetwork team were out and about this evening, covering the usual hotspot areas. This adding to a busy week with loads of different things going on but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Thanks to players of @PostcodeLottery for funding this.

Thank you @unisontheunion delegates for their kind welcome to #undc22 yesterday in Brighton. Good to see so many friends stopping for a chat and catching up on their work.

Thanks to @CLDGlasgowClyde & @TurfYService we have thouroughly enjoyed visting the Community Hub over the last 4 weeks. You have made all of us feel most welcome & the young team loved it. We hope to be back soon to continue this great partnership work. https://twitter.com/CLDGlasgowClyde/status/1537500002209124353

My contribution to the Fire and Rehire debate. I outlined my opposition to the exploitive practice and the UKGovt's failure to do anything to deal with it - we are falling behind in worker’s protections, yet still no Employment Bill.

Threehills were pleased to attend @CleevesPS sports day event yesterday & distribute lots of healthy snacks & refreshments to the children.

NOONE WILL BE DEPORTED TO RWANDA TONIGHT!!

We have won today, but we will continue the fight tomorrow and against EVERY racist deportation ✊🏾✊🏾🔥🔥

Very sorry to hear of the death recently of Bruce Kent, a man deeply committed to peace, who entirely rejected the use of nuclear weapons. Grateful to colleagues cross-party for their support for this #EDM.

Thank you to constituents who attended this weeks surgeries in Govan and Crookston. This weekend I attended the Govan Gaelic Primary School Summer Fete and the Govan Toy Library.

Many thanks to constituents who stopped by for a chat.

Archbishop Nolan: “The policy of forcibly deporting to Rwanda people who have come to this country in search of safety and security is morally wrong.
"It is an offence against human dignity and against all the best traditions of welcome of this country.”

Hundreds of British Council staff face compulsory redundancy because of the programme of cuts, closures and outsourcing by the UK Govt. I urged action by the UK Govt to renegotiate the repayment terms to retain the skills and expertise which will vital going forward.

More than 400 people have died since the infected blood inquiry was announced. Sir Robert Francis’s report suggests that the Govt should offer “substantial interim payments. I asked when the Govt will respond to the report and implement its recommendations for those affected?

Brexit-related trade barriers have driven up the cost of food in the UK by 6% - even 60% of Brexit voters accept this is the case. I asked the Minister what the Govt intend to do about the rising cost of food. No answer just the usual Brexit propaganda from Jacob Rees-Mogg.
