Fantastic to finally chair my first in-person @clydegateway board meeting at Red Tree Magenta in South Lanarkshire.

Lots of great plans and activities being discussed, not least the significant opportunities presented by the regeneration of Shawfield.

Another busy week! Lovely to meet folk at the @VOICESNetworkUK event.

You can read my article in the Scotsman here:

Ding ding, #bikebus coming through! Last ride of the school year & what a lovely day it was for it! Couldn’t be prouder of these kids for riding all through the last 8mths. We’ll be taking a well earned break but back in August and until we safe infrastructure. #bicibus 🚴‍♂️🛴🚴‍♀️🥳

🤱🏾It's seven years today since I first held a debate in @HouseofCommons on breastfeeding, and I've kept raising issues around infant feeding ever since.

I'm so grateful for everyone who supported me to found and keep @APPGIFI running over the years.

The UK Gov has failed and continues to fail to support people with the rising cost of living. @theSNP Scottish Gov, in contrast, is delivering, with the limited powers we have.

The Tories will never take this seriously enough. Scotland needs all the powers of independence.

His mission is 'trying to make the world a better place, one bicycle at a time'

I am now on TikTok! Showing my support for @BishopPaulB's upcoming bill to scrap the tories' backwards 2-Child Limit policy.

At the last @GlasgowCC Full Council before the election, female councillors standing down brought a motion on misogyny in politics and challenged their male colleagues to do better. Today male Labour councillors have repeatedly shouted over and disrespected female colleagues.

Minister @ThomasCArthur set out the Scottish Government’s provisional accounts today for 2021-22, detailing how we spent £47bn funding key services, supporting businesses and households and helping to tackle cost of living pressures. /1

The Home Office continues to fail the most vulnerable - trafficking people to Rwanda and refusing to help Afghans at risk of execution is a failure of duty that will devastate lives.

"Whoever. Wherever. Whenever. Everyone has the right to seek safety from persecution and conflict.”

- Minister for Refugees from Ukraine, Neil Gray

A message of welcome to people who have sought refuge in Scotland.

In a @ScotParl debate today, Ministers outlined how @scotgov has allocated almost £3 billion to help mitigate the cost of living crisis this year, including:

🔷doubling the Scottish Child Payment
🔷uprating 8 Scottish benefits by 6%
🔷mitigating the bedroom tax

It was an honor to convene women leaders in Bellagio with @giwps @RockefellerFdn @HillaryClinton. We spent two days discussing inclusive climate action, advancing democracy and women's rights & gender equality frameworks. I look forward to sharing our ideas. #Overdue4Equity

My column @heraldscotland : Vigilance crucial as Tories’ febrile post-Brexit politicking poses threat . @alisonthewliss

The gambling white paper must push for a smart statutory levy on the gambling industry to fund research, education and support.

Nothing less is acceptable.

Who is calling the shots?

The @GOVUK or the gambling industry?

@Ianblackford_MP 📣 @Ianblackford_MP: "Can I ask the Prime Minister, does he think his government bears any blame for the fact that the UK is doing so much worse than our European neighbours?" #PMQs

Brexit will leave workers poorer than they would have been and has damaged Britain's competitiveness, new study says

In the time since the benefit cap was LOWERED (November 2016), the cost of living has RISEN by 18%. #ScrapTheCap

@alisonthewliss @patrickharvie @jonmolyneuxSGP @DaftLimmy @UrbanistTOC @Govanhill_mag It's reported to police and on here Thanks 😊

🚨Stolen Bike🚨

My bike was stolen from the locks at the Victoria Road junction with Torrisdale St between 10pm-12am last night.

Work is underway to support the recovery of the city centre - @GlasgowCC is using @scotgov funding to improve its look and feel while working with partners like @Glasgow_Chamber to plan for the future city centre economy.

In Scotland, we have a Gaelic saying: Ceud Mìle Fàilte. It means ‘one hundred thousand welcomes’. Whoever you are, wherever you come from, you are welcome in our country. That was my message to the Global Parliamentary Conference on Migration in Istanbul today.

This week is #CervicalScreeningAwarenessWeek.
Cervical screening (smear tests) can save lives, but they aren't always easy for everyone.

Follow @JoTrust this week to learn more about the test, #CervicalScreeningTips that might make it easier, and where you can find support!

Great to meet charities, clinicians & people with neurological conditions to launch @NeuroAlliance's new report & #BackThe1in6 campaign. Living with a neurological condition can seriously impact mental health - I support improvements to services & creation of a Neuro Taskforce

Glasgow! We had a great time in the woods at Dalmarnock on Saturday, and we're back there this weekend, it's free and open to all Dads/Male Carers and children aged 0-8yrs.

Fantastic to join @VOICESNetworkUK this afternoon for their Refugee Week celebrations at @GarnethillMCC.

Had a wonderful afternoon at the @VOICESNetworkUK celebration to mark the start of #RefugeeWeek2022 and finally meeting the Voices Ambassadors in person! Such lovely people in attendance today, so lucky to spend time with many of them, eat delicious food and dress up ❤

UNAMA strongly condemns today's attack on a #Sikh temple in #Kabul, which is reported to have resulted in numerous casualties. Attacks on civilians must cease immediately. UNAMA calls for protection of all minorities in #Afghanistan, including Sikhs, Hazaras and Sufis.

I was very delighted today to participate in the Yemeni corner at the @VOICESNetworkUK event and to celebrate diversity and culture in our lovely city Glasgow ❤️Thanks to everyone who participated and attended 🧡

Fortunately, I avoided the electronic tagging plan of displaced vulnerable people in UK when I came. That's why I'm able to serve in the NHS today like so many others.
Bad luck to the new arrivals!

A great afternoon @GarnethillMCC with @VOICESNetworkUK to hear from asylum seekers and refugees. A celebration of different cultures as well as hearing of the difficulties and challenges. #RefugeeWeek2022 @alisonthewliss
