Today marks 50 years since the first UK Pride. Members of the LGBT+ community who marched through London faced hostility and backlash.
But they persevered and today we celebrate and remember the groundbreaking work of LGBT+ activists over the past 50 years. 🏳️🌈
Good luck Ben - so sorry I couldn’t campaign with you because of my dad’s illness then passing, but really hope you win, you’d make an outstanding community councillor
Good luck to good friend @MarketingproBen for his count today. Fantastic effort by him over several weeks, he'll be an ace representative if he wins. And a brilliant effort from the whole team yesterday. Was glad to be able to join last night.
I've done more research showing that Community Payback is broken: it's time for the Conservatives to back Labour’s plan for Community and Victim Payback Boards so we can restore trust in community sentences.
Today would have been my parents’ 60th wedding anniversary, but yesterday we laid my dad to rest after he passed away just a few days earlier. We are gathered around mum today to support her in remembering so many happy times in their long and loving marriage ❤️
My heart is broken as we say goodbye to my dad today. A wonderful husband, dad and grandad, he worked as a printer, sang in a band, played professional football and was a lifelong trade unionist who taught me never to be a bystander against injustice. I love you forever Dad x
While Conservative Ministers hound civil servants back to the office, my research shows that they’re letting thousands of offenders "work from home". Yet again they're letting criminals off and letting victims down.
I bet everyone on the doorsteps in Wakefield and Tiverton was saying that Oliver Dowden was the reason they didn't vote Tory.
Huge congratulations to @SimonLightwood - Labour’s new MP for Wakefield!
A historic victory — this city deserved a fresh start, and you delivered it.
Wakefield is the birthplace of the next Labour government.
Congratulations to @simonlightwood!
The new Labour MP for Wakefield. 🌹
Huge congratulations to @simonlightwood on a storming win for Labour in Wakefield - truth and decency in politics matters #JohnsonOut
This Conservative Government’s Bill of Rights con is an attack on women.
It will make it harder for victims of rape to get justice.
But it comes as no surprise from a Govt that has effectively decriminalised rape.
What a relief this abusive cult has been closed down after I raised serious allegations of abuse and exploitation - the organisation’s leaders must never be allowed to target young people again
Over 35,000 Brits waiting over 10 wks for a passport, threatening hard earned holidays, family & work trips. Today Labour called on Minister to apologise to everyone they’ve let down but Tory MPs voted to defend him. Welcome to #BorisJohnsonsBacklogBritain https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/tens-of-thousands-waiting-two-months-for-a-new-passport-ct6x2x3wg
My research shows failing Conservative ministers left hard-pressed taxpayers to foot £14m hike in prison energy bills even before this year’s price rises hit - not enough focus on insulation, cutting waste or using cheaper solar power
Five years on from the Grenfell tower fire we remember the 72 people killed.
The Grenfell community are courageous in their pursuit of justice and change. We stand with them.
To honour the memories of those lost we must prevent such a tragedy happening again.
Projected growth in 2023
OECD countries (minus Russia)
More world-beating results from Boris Johnson's Conservatives.
Hounding civil servants back into the office while letting criminals work from home: my research shows yet again how the Conservatives are letting criminals off and letting victims down. Labour's Community and Victim Payback Boards would put this right.
Labour MPs voted today to adopt the recommendations of the Committee on Standards in Public Life.
We were joined by other parties in our efforts to clean up politics.
But not one single Conservative MP voted in favour. A total abdication of leadership under Boris Johnson.
Worse percentage-wise than Thatcher in 1990.
Worse percentage-wise than May in 2018.
Worse percentage-wise than Major in 1995.
Boris Johnson is a dead man walking. He’s got to go.
Dead man walking
“Jacob Rees-Mogg, who led calls for the Tory confidence vote, said losing the support of a third of her MPs was a "terrible result for the Prime Minister" & called on her to resign”
A reminder to Jacob Rees-Mogg about the resignation threshold he set for Theresa May in Dec 2018.
Labour will tomorrow force a vote in Parliament to clean up politics.
Boris Johnson has demeaned his office and downgraded standards.
We are urging MPs of all parties to back a package of reforms to strengthen standards in public life.
It’s time to stop the rot.
The absolute state of this.
A Cabinet Minister now admitting the Conservative Government failed to prepare our country for a pandemic in which 180,000 people in the UK died.
They failed to keep us safe.
You just can’t trust them. https://twitter.com/NadineDorries/status/1533763409627566080
3/4 Your pandemic preparation during six years as health secretary was found wanting and inadequate.Your duplicity right now in destabilising the party and country to serve your own personal ambition, more so.
Message to Tory MPs. This is who you're voting on.
Today we will find out how many Conservative MPs still believe integrity matters in public life
I have supported Boris Johnson for 15 years, for the London Mayoralty and for PM. Very sadly, I have written to him to say I can no longer do so, for the reasons set out below.
Still smiling after a wonderful jubilee street party with our lovely neighbours yesterday afternoon - what a great weekend it’s been for bringing our country together 🇬🇧
Looking forward to our jubilee street party later this afternoon 🇬🇧
The Queen’s commitment to Britain is unwavering.
The Queen has improved our country’s reputation around the world – and has stood with us at home, through good times and bad.
Today, on #ThankYouDay, we celebrate and give our thanks to Her Majesty.
As the Tories trash British values and British institutions. Labour’s the party of patriotism now. Fantastic piece by @LucyMPowell
A privilege to be at #PlatinumPartyAtThePalace this evening.
Such brilliant performances, great atmosphere, and a wonderful celebration of Her Majesty The Queen.
Proud to be British!
Let’s hope these silent Tories find their backbones at last, the country’s suffered enough from the self-serving narcissist in Downing Street #JohnsonOut
This idea that the “payroll“ will vote to keep @BorisJohnson in a secret ballot is deluded. I can think of five ministers who have already told me they will vote him out. And no, you won’t guess who.
The Queen’s sense of duty and commitment to Her people have made our country a better place.
This weekend, on the #PlatinumJubilee, we celebrate Her Majesty.
Burglary victims forced to wait up to two years for justice - and that’s the lucky few who ever get to trial in the first place as the Conservatives go soft on crime
This #PlatinumJubilee weekend will be a celebration of the Queen’s 70 years - and a chance for the country to let its hair down after a difficult few years.
Even the Tory right are abandoning Johnson after the disgrace of law-breaking parties with DJs, fights and vomiting as the rest of the country made extraordinary sacrifices to keep people safe https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/may/31/andrea-leadsom-criticises-failures-of-leadership-in-no-10?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
“I’m Labour because I’m patriotic” - chatting with Christopher Hope about Labour, patriotism, and the Queen’s platinum jubilee @ChoppersPodcast
The failing Conservatives have broken our economy - but it’s the British people who are paying the price
When it comes to managing our country’s economy, this Tory government is nothing short of incompetent.
Unacceptable that this failing Conservative Government does nothing as rape victims ‘treated like suspects’ after being attacked #SoftOnCrime #HardOnVictims
"In the old days 'taking personal responsibility' was almost a synonym for 'I am about to resign'. Well, I don't know what it means now."
Andrew Marr's devastating takedown of Boris Johnson, in response to the Sue Gray report's "gruesome detail".
The Labour Party called for a windfall tax for five months before the government finally admitted they were wrong.
In the meantime, every day of @BorisJohnson's dithering and delay added £53m to household bills.
First the Tories said they couldn’t introduce a windfall tax because producers were the ones struggling.
Then they called it ‘Unconservative.’
Now Labour has dragged them kicking and screaming to this obvious solution.
Why has it taken them so long while households suffered?
Pleased to attend Croydon Council AGM last night, promises from Conservative Mayor Jason Perry & Labour opposition leader Cllr Stuart King to work together for local people, encouraging to see a fresh, diverse new Labour team ready to stand up for residents across our borough
Good first council meeting. @JasonForCroydon's speech proposing our @Cllr_Alisa to the position of Civic Mayor was very decent. Highlighted how truly brilliant she is.
@Stuart_King was great. Demonstrated yet again how he's the leader to take us forward. Tone perfect.
'It's their job now to hold Boris Johnson to account and remove him from office, but they're too cowardly to do so.'
Labour Shadow Health Secretary @wesstreeting takes aim at 'completely spineless' Conservative MPs.
"The cost-of-living crisis hasn't just arisen because of what's gone on abroad. He's imposed 15 tax hikes since becoming PM."
Shadow Justice Secretary Steve Reed berates Boris' decision-making and policies while in power.

I can’t bear reading Tory MPs, some of whom I know well and like, tweet straightforward lies. In private they despair, in public they back him. It makes them complicit.
Wine on the walls, vomit, a fight. And cleaners - who weren’t able to see their families - regularly cleaning it all up. But yep, let’s all get on now … https://twitter.com/DominicRaab/status/1529452778086617088
The PM has apologised and is implementing all Sue Gray's recommendations.
Now we need to get on and deliver for the British people - growing our economy to tackle the cost of living, funding the NHS to clear covid backlogs and cutting crime to make our streets safer
The security guards who were ridiculed by people more powerful than them, and the cleaners scrubbing red wine off the walls, knew that Johnson and co. were breaking the rules, but we’re supposed to believe that Boris Johnson didn’t. Pull the other one.
Boris Johnson has turned Downing Street into a vomit-stained Bullingdon Club.
The treatment and mockery doled out to cleaning and security staff that has now been exposed is beyond shameful.
This Prime Minister has nothing but contempt for the people of this country.
The party is over @BorisJohnson.
The victim of the disgraced former Wakefield MP told @Conservatives about the sickening sexual abuse he had suffered, and they did nothing
Victims and the people of Wakefield deserve answers.
There must be an independent investigation into their shocking failure to act.
