Yes: The unions are the beating heart of our movement. @JonCruddas_1 calls it right. We should stand with working people, not cross by on the other side. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/jun/26/jon-cruddas-labour-party-must-support-rail-workers-in-pay-dispute?CMP=share_btn_link

Great response on the doorstep this morning in #Clifton with Councillor @D_J_Myers @labouryork Residents wanting good dental services and a change of Government!
Had a lovely sunny day in #Clifton speaking with residents about our petition for access to NHS dentists in #York with @RachaelMaskell

Rachael Maskell MP joins railway workers picket line in York: Government should be building the railways up, not running them down @YorkPress @RMTunion https://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/20236040.rachael-maskell-mp-joins-railway-workers-picket-line-york/?ref=twtrec
What a loss. My condolences to Harry's family. He was for such a friendly and cheerful legend of the BBC and our city of York. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-61927303?fs=e&s=cl
I note questions are being asked about my expenses. For clarity, these are the costs of running the constituency office, including paying for 10 members of staff, postage on letters, running an IT system, etc. The only expenses I claim is my standard class travel to Parliament.
Charities must challenge and change the frameworks of society. Here's how to do this in this #20YearsOfNPC essay by @RachaelMaskell, MP for York Central and former Shadow Minister for Civil Society: https://www.thinknpc.org/blog/rachael-maskell
Thanks to @karinsmyth and @RachaelMaskell for pledging your support for #equalchance for adopted people at yesterday's launch of the #adoptionbarometer22
I won't be crossing a picket line tonight @RMTunion but have a 5 1/2 hour coach journey ahead. #SolidarityRMT Lots of time to catch up on constituency correspondence.

Government still won't engage with the @RMTunion to resolve this dispute. Instead they're stoking it in Parliament with strike breaking legislation. Give us a plan to (1) smooth to future skills to stop compulsory redundancies, (2) increase patronage, and (3) a fair pay deal.
Great to see you in Parliament today, let's catch up in York #ItsOurCare
Ellie and Jade have been speaking with @RachaelMaskell today about the changes care experienced young people want to see #ItsOurCare 👏
I’ve been on the picket line this morning with the @RMTunion. The Tories have failed to take the concerns of railway workers seriously and have forced strike action from working people who deserve far better. Safety on the railways, no job cuts and fair pay.
Out supporting low paid workers on the @RMTunion picket line this morning - rail staff telling me how the cost of living is hitting them and their families. Stay strong.
I'm off to show my support to the men and women who deserve safe and secure jobs with decent pay, terms and condition @RMTunion
Tomorrow @RMTunion members begin industrial action to defend jobs, pay and conditions
Here's why 👇
👑 Tonight the Removal of Titles Bill received its First Reading as I introduced this Bill to the House of Commons. The monach or Parliament will be able to remove the title of the 'Duke of York', for example, if this Bill reaches the statute books. 👑
📜 Tonight I have introduced a Bill to license 'airbnbs', short term holiday lets, so Councils can have powers to give or remove licenses, including for reasons of safety, noice and nuisance and raise local revenue from these properties. We need to end the unregulated market. 📜
Today we officially opened the £38 million newly upgraded Foss Barrier in York, now one of the most resilient flood defences in the country, meaning 2,000 properties will be better protected from the impacts of climate change.

6 years ago the brightest of lights, Jo Cox MP, was taken from us in darkest of moments. We must never forget her words, "we have more in common than that which divides us". May our actions lead to unity in her memory.
So good to see this legislation coming forward to grow cooperatives. @CoopParty
📺 Today Labour and Co-operative MP @MpHendrick has tabled major proposed legislation which has the potential to help grow the co-operative movement - we look forward to supporting its progress 🐝

This afternoon I have made a clear case for how Government and employers must resolve the industrial impasse with the @RMTunion The union wants to talk, I trust @grantshapps @RishiSunak will seize this opportunity to build constructive talks to resolve this dispute.

His crime @pritipatel?? Having a son he wants to be with in the UK?? Changing religion?? Wanting freedom?? Wanting to live?? Wanting to breathe?? #RefugeesRightsAreHumanRights #RefugeesWelcome
Earlier today we spoke to one of the refugees who lost his appeal and is scheduled to be deported to Rwanda tonight. He told us, “We want freedom. We want to breathe. We want to live." His words are translated and spoken by an actor.
🇫🇰 40 years ago the future of the Falkland Islands became the focus of the world. 255 British troops, 649 Argentinian military and 3 Falkland Islanders died. Many more were physically and mentally injured. May peace be sustained. #Falklands40 🇫🇰
@RachaelMaskell is applying for a debate on the Independent Review of Children’s Social Care.
#Grenfell stands as the tragic reminder of what happens when power refuses to listen to the people. This burning injustice reminds us, as we remember those lost and survived, that our job is to relentless speak out and act.
It has been five years since 72 people were killed by a fire at Grenfell Tower.
The appalling tragedy is evidence of the unequal society we live in under this Tory government.
Today we remember the victims and demand action to ensure a similar tragedy can never happen again.
This flight to Rwanda must be stopped there are just 8 people on the flight and 3 are appealing today. This is not just at huge cost to the tax payer but at huge cost to the dignity and rights of those fleeing to the UK. @pritipatel show some humanity #RefugeesWelcome

It was so good to talk to residents in Acomb today with #TeamAcombLabour Let's rebuild our city together.
Great day today out on the doorstep in Acomb with @labouryork We were in Sovereign Park and Ouseacres, great conversations with residents who want change at local and national level!

Great listening to residents in Guildhall this morning. @labouryork
Positive responses to #Labour on the doorstep in Guildhall this morning. Cost of living is biting. @RachaelMaskell working hard there in the background!
York MP waits ‘months’ for responses. In an unusual intervention, following my question, the Speaker highlighted how common this was for MPs across the Commons. @yorkpress https://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/20198452.york-mp-waits-months-responses/?ref=twtrec
It's time for a new deal.

Tonight I've read the @YSTeachingNHS @CQCProf report into the quality of medical care. It's clear that there are serious concerns which must be addressed, including staffing, which is impacted by external factors. Our NHS staff are so caring but under immense pressures.

Bruce Kent was so genuine as a committed campaigner who lived his faith and politics in making the case for peace. He will be greatly missed. @CNDuk
I am devastated to learn of the passing of Bruce Kent, an incredible local activist and a dear friend.
My thoughts are with his family and the global peace movement at this difficult time.

A huge thank you to @RachaelMaskell for coming along to our launch event this afternoon for 'Never Again', our joint report with @HCSANews and for pledging to support our key recommendations 👇
Thanks so much for standing up for NHS staff 💙
On this day 95 years ago, the @CoopParty and @UKLabour signed the Cheltenham Agreement – creating the historic partnership between our Parties.
We're proud to be an independent political party whilst also working with @UKLabour to stand candidates who share our co-op values 🌹🐝
The Prime Minister is now so badly wounded, that he can't keep limping on, dragging the country down with him .... #Resign
While Boris Johnson has been focused on saving his job today my friend @PaulJSweeney has been down in Westminster advocating for drugs policy that would save lives.
His Bill would set up Overdose Prevention Centres in Scotland. 21st century drugs policy we should see everywhere.
Visited the converted ambulance that housed Glasgow’s Overdose Prevention Service today in Westminster. Learnt about its amazing work of reducing harm & saving lives.
I also spoke to @PaulJSweeney about his vital Drug Death Prevention Bill introduced in the Scottish Parliament.
