📢A game-changing deal for our members.
It will see the reversal of the 10 percent cut to their wages made during the pandemic & a substantial increase in their pay.

I strongly advise other aviation employers, including @British_Airways to take note.

Today we mark the 53rd anniversary of the #StonewallRiots, when the LGBTQ+ community in New York fought back against police brutality

The riot gave rise to a generation of activists & campaign groups (including @stonewalluk!) without whom we would not be where we are today🏳️‍🌈✊🏼🏳️‍⚧️

I am hearing alarming reports of rising numbers of children with eating disorders being restrained in general wards, by staff without mental health training.

I asked @sajidjavid to commit to recording the use of restraint for feeding.

Sadly, he ignored my question.

For too long the government has had its head in the sand when it comes to mental health.

The government has presided over failure after failure.

This is a once in a generation opportunity - the government cannot fail on mental health legislation.

Tonight the @UKLabour LGBT+ group of Parliamentarians & our allies marked 50 years of #Pride with an event in Parliament. Equality matters. Visibility matters & being authentically you matters. As #plymouth’s first ever out MP I will keep challenging hate and saying #LoveIsLove

It's 3 years since the UK enshrined net zero into law.

We know there is vast room for debate on how to get there, but what we also know is that 2050 is the very latest we should get to net zero by. Great to see so many politicians come out in support of #NetZeroDay. https://twitter.com/EnvironmentAPPG/status/1541454730077020160

💥 NEW legal opinion shows Grants Shapps has “extensive” powers to step in and help resolve the rail dispute.

He needs to stop inflaming tensions and get people around the table to find a fair resolution.

British Airways exploited the pandemic to slash the pay of their loyal staff by 10%.

GMB members at Heathrow just want to be paid properly for the work that they do, and they're ready to strike for it.

@British_Airways, it's not too late to save the summer holidays. 🛫

As well as a useless Transport Secretary, Grant Shapps is a danger to public safety.

Temps operating 25,000-volt rail control centres or 140mph train signals?

He’s learned nothing from the safety failings and grounded vessels of the P&O scandal.

Why can’t he just do his job?

Love seeing all the @simonlightwood placards in the green hedges, but can’t wait to see him on the green benches, so please go out and vote @UKLabour Wakefield!

#Wakefield #voteLabour

There's only one answer to the staff shortages causing chaos in our airports and that's for employers like @British_Airways to pay their staff properly.

GMB's Nadine Houghton spoke to BBC News ahead of the result of our strike ballot, due at 2pm today.

Just six weeks ago Ministers feigned outrage at the illegal and unsafe decision to replace P&O workers with agency staff.

Now they’re adopting their playbook.

This senseless plan is a recipe for disaster.

Great to be out on the #Labourdoorstep in Wakefield today - huge support for Labour.

Lets turn Wakefield red! 🌹🗳️
#VoteLabour #Wakefieldbyelection

Best of luck to @simonlightwood

Great to be getting out the vote in #Wakefieldbyelection with @HollyLynch5 @SarahOwen_ & @_OliviaBlake for @simonlightwood #VoteLabourWakefield 🌹 @UKLabour

Good to see so much support for the #sheffield @RMTunion picket today.

With inflation hitting 9% I know that rail workers & people everywhere are struggling - all while profits for companies have soared.

It’s time to end the #CostOfLivingCrisis & give workers a proper pay rise.

Last week I took the decision to step back from the front-bench.

It has been an honour working with colleagues in the Climate Change & Net-Zero team.

Read my letter below:

Ukrainian refugees in the UK are facing a cliff edge.

As many as 660 families have had to leave their sponsors home, some with a days notice.

Others will soon end their 6 month placement, with nowhere to go.

We need an urgent plan to ensure everyone has safe, secure housing.

It is appalling that families will pay £2.7bn more on their energy bills because the Conservatives failed to properly regulate the energy market.

They ignored the warnings and allowed fly-by-night firms to take customers' money without proper regulation

Yesterday I reminded the Secretary of State for Transport that he called our railway workers heroes.

And hasn't that been shown today.

Full solidarity to @RMTunion members in Sheffield & across the country forced to strike to protect their livelihoods ✊✊✊ #ToryRailStrikes

RMT @RMTunion

#ToryRailStrikes @RMTunion members in Sheffield this morning striking to protect their jobs, pay and conditions

Workers have been left with no choice.

No one takes strike action lightly. I will always defend their absolute right to do so for fairness at work.

The PM needs to do his own job. His Government caused this. Now they must solve it.

The Rwanda plan isn't going to work. But even if it did, it doesn't change the fundamental principle: that deporting people seeking refuge against their will is wrong

We must find solutions beyond the cruel hostile environment.

My piece for @nowthenmag👇

Grant Shapps could have avoided these #RailStrikes. Instead, he put his feet up and didn't spend a single second in negotiations with @RMTunion.

It was clear from the outset that he wanted these strikes to happen, to deflect from @BorisJohnson's corruption & incompetence.

When you are responsible for the pay of teachers and nurses.

Pointing out how little you pay them probably isn't a great idea.

During the pandemic the Government called railway workers heroes.

What has changed?

I called on @grantshapps to get round the negotiating table immediately #RailStrikes

The 2030 vision of good education, friends, mental health & social life needs teachers empowered to identify & help 1.5 million children struggling to speak or understand language sufficiently, to then get good maths & English GCSEs ⁦@RCSLT⁩ https://schoolsweek.co.uk/2030-vision-we-need-to-talk-about-speech-and-language/

Proud to stand together to demand a new deal for working people.

Workers didn’t cause the cost of living crisis. They shouldn’t have to pay for it.
