Under the Tories' inflation crisis, working people are facing the biggest pay cut in years.
They have every right to fight for a fair pay rise and decent conditions.

Rail workers kept our country going during the pandemic.
They deserve fair pay and respect.
Grant Shapps should get around the table with them and resolve this dispute.

Today's devastating Supreme Court decision is a massive setback for women's rights in the United States of America.
The right of women to make their own decisions about their own bodies is a fundamental human right.
Congratulations @simonlightwood and the team that made it happen - an excellent result!

The new Labour MP for Wakefield. 🌹
Upsetting. I hope a solution can be found and happy to help in any way I can.
We’ve taken down the nature info panel on #woolwichcommon for the time-being due to at least 3 bouts of mindless vandalism since it was installed just a few weeks ago. Heartbreaking and infuriating.
We hope the removal is just temporary until we determine the next steps.
This honest and entertaining new book is well worth a read.
My new book, Lose Weight 4 Life is out today.

On #WindrushDay we celebrate the contribution of the Windrush generation and honour their legacy.
We also remember that the vast majority of those caught up in the Windrush scandal are still seeking justice and that for many the fight for appropriate compensation goes on.

Really not a fan of all this morally loaded "workers must show pay restraint" rhetoric. It's entirely rational for people facing 10% inflation to try to get a pay rise. Tell them no if you want, but don't tell them they were wrong to even ask.
Of course he will. He’s delighted it turns the attention away from him. He wants this, he needs this, he thrives on this and quite frankly he’s having us over on a daily basis. It’s hot today. The hottest day of the year.
The average annual number of UK hot days has been increasing since the 1960s.
Even if we stopped emissions today we still have to cope with living in a warming world, and do so in a way that is fair across society
It was a privilege to respond on behalf of the opposition to this afternoon's debate commemorating the fifth anniversary of the Grenfell Tower fire.
British people showed amazing generosity in stepping up to help Ukrainians. But because ministers were more interested in grandstanding on TV than in doing their jobs, hundreds are now homeless.
It’s utterly shameful. We need to see a plan to fix this now https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/jun/16/hundreds-of-ukrainian-refugees-left-homeless-in-england-data-shows?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
Labour welcomes the publication of the government’s white paper but it’s a poor substitute for the emergency legislation that struggling private renters so desperately need.
The Conservatives first promised to do this three years ago.
They promised 'Renters' Reforms' in the 2021 Queen's Speech, yet failed to deliver.
Struggling renters need emergency legislation to protect them not a White Paper and further consultation.

look who we are trying to send to Rwanda https://twitter.com/carolinehawley/status/1536287108494774273
A former Iranian policeman due to be deported to Rwanda tomorrow has been told by the Home Office that his ticket has been cancelled. He'd been sentenced to jail in Iran after he ordered his men not to use fire-arms to control nation-wide protests in November 2019.
The Government is pushing ahead with Rwanda policy that is completely unworkable, deeply unethical, extortionately expensive, profoundly un-British, and which risks making dangerous people trafficking & smuggling worse. /1
There is no doubt that the EU needs to show more flexibility when it comes to implementing the Protocol.
But far from unlocking progress, the reckless NI Protocol Bill published earlier today will serve only to deepen the acrimony and delay agreement on a lasting solution.
Back of a fag packet policy making.

Our Wharf Garden is open this weekend! Ballast Quay, Greenwich SE10. Homemade cakes and homegrown plants for sale. Proceeds to Greenwich & Bexley Hospice.
As the UNHCR has made clear, the Conservative government’s plan to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda fails to meet the required standards of “legality and appropriateness”.
Whatever the outcome of Monday's legal appeal, this policy will be a lasting source of shame for Britain.
What an absolute shower.
They tell us they’re levelling up the country but this is what they truly think. They can’t even tell the difference between “Blackpool or Birmingham or somewhere godawful”.
Clueless and offensive.

UNHCR criticisms of Govt’s Rwanda scheme today are damning - warning about lack of proper treatment for refugees in Rwanda & accusing Home Secretary of misleading people over UN support.
This plan is unworkable, unethical, extortionately expensive, and profoundly un-British https://twitter.com/alantravis40/status/1535307541160333313
Turns out not only @pritipatel misled over UNHCR endorsement but Home Office wrote letters to potential Rwandan deportees telling them the UN agency was "closely involved" in the scheme and had not expressed substantial concerns. This was not correct.

This afternoon Michael Gove stated from the despatch box that the second part of legislation to reform the leasehold system would be published in the next parliamentary session. That's too long to wait. The government should find time this session to overhaul this feudal system.
