Brilliant evening at the Ed Sheeran gig at Wembley Stadium with my boyfriend. All our favourite songs and incredible staging. Loved it.
I’ve been asked by a few CLPs to do Zooms on how to be election-ready. Happy doing that, but have a read of my 12 step guide first on @LabourList. It isn’t about policy - that’s for the manifesto - but it is about making sure when called, your CLP is election ready.
"Now, more than ever, it is vital your local party goes the extra mile to help Labour be election-ready and defeat the Tories."

Luke Pollard "There are deliberate attempts in the UK to roll back LGBT+ rights focused at trans people. The level of abuse, the marginalisation, the cutting and pasting of the headlines from the 1980s that once applied to gay people." 1/3
#50YearsofPride #pride @LukePollard
On the 50th anniversary of #pride roll back of #LGBT rights are happening right now. Equality is not a one way street - it can and is being reversed at home and abroad.
Now is the time for us to wake from comfortable complacency to stand up for everyone in our big LGBT family.
I’m in the Commons debate on 50 years of #Pride. As #plymouth’s first ever out MP I’ll be talking about my experiences and my call for the #LGBT community to end comfortable complacency and realise roll back of rights is coming for all of us. Trans people first, but who next?👇
"Whilst we should rightly celebrate the achievements of the last 50 years, the overturning of Roe v. Wade in America illustrates that equality is not a one-way street." - @LukePollard

I’ve written for @gaytimes calling for the #LGBT community to wake up from a comfortable complacency in believing that equality is a one-way street where things only get better. With examples of roll back is visible abroad and at home, it’s time for us all to stand tall together

Happy Birthday to 999!
999 number was introduced in London on June 30 1937 after five women were killed in a house fire in 1935. A neighbour tried to phone the fire brigade at the time but was held in a queue by the phone exchange. Govt inquiry introduced 999 to save lives.
Dominic Raab won’t approve but I did indeed go the opera last week (it cost me £62).
Tom Eisner, a working-class lad from Buxton near where I grew up kindly invited me. He’s been playing violin at Glyndebourne for 36 years.
Never let anyone tell you you’re not good enough. 🎻
A public meeting to tackle overt drug dealing in Greenbank - which @LukePollard describes as the “start of the residents’ fightback”- is to be held in July. Luke and Cllr @CharlotteHollo are holding the meeting at 6pm on Thursday 7th July

I’m in the debate in the Commons about the utterly dire situation at the Royal Cornwall Hospital. That hospital has the largest ambulance wait time in the entire country. This has an impact on Derriford in #plymouth too. Our NHS was in crisis before the pandemic. Much worse now.
On my way to @UKLabour’s Celebrating Ethnic Minority Leaders in Business event hosted by @RachelReevesMP and @abenaopp. I’m wearing a tie made by Abena’s auntie Kraka in Ghana. Looking forward to meeting some inspirational people tonight.
Following Putin's illegal and brutal invasion of Ukraine, the UK stands united in bolstering NATO nations on our Eastern Flank.
I am deeply proud of the role UK troops are playing in Estonia - as part of our unshakeable commitment to the NATO. https://twitter.com/guardian/status/1542178049587814401

Alarming that almost half of all students are impacted by poor mental health.
The Government must support universities to ensure students have access to adequate services.

I really like the new Plymouth Argyle away kit and 3rd kit. I especially like how Project 35 - their initiative to fight child poverty in our city - is taking centre stage on the shirts. @argyle https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/news/plymouth-news/plymouth-argyle-away-kit-3rd-7268960

For too long, the government have allowed water companies to treat our rivers and waterways like open sewers. They have promised to clean them up, but ecological standards have not changed since 2016. That is why I welcome this overdue investigation.

Welcome to Tory Britain where Tory men attempt to silence female MPs for raising the hopeless rate of prosecutions for rape. Solidarity with @SarahOwen_
Tory Ministers & MPs trying to silence women for pointing out their appalling record on convicting rapists, is as low as it gets.
The only people who should apologise for the failure to prosecute criminals and failure to give victims justice is this Government. #VAWG
Great to speak at the @TargetOvarian reception today

After years of campaigning today is a good day as Ministers confirm #Plymouth's Royal Citadel and Stonehouse Barracks are saved from closure for now. Pride was a riot. Let’s not forget every right we enjoy as the #LGBT community was fought for and won. Let’s defend them with all our heart. #pride
#OnThisDay in 1969, LGBT+ people resisted a police raid at the Stonewall Inn in New York, sparking the #Pride movement.
It's so important we celebrate LGBT+ history in this country too.
My thanks to Joseph Galliano for showing me around the excellent @QueerBritain museum.
☎️ 470,000 mental health 999 calls each year.
🚑 Thousands going to A&E in a mental health crisis.
⏳ Some children stuck in A&E for days waiting for a mental health bed.
The Government needs to get a grip of the mental health crisis across our country.
Tonight the @UKLabour LGBT+ group of Parliamentarians & our allies marked 50 years of #Pride with an event in Parliament. Equality matters. Visibility matters & being authentically you matters. As #plymouth’s first ever out MP I will keep challenging hate and saying #LoveIsLove

Congratulations Simon. It’s good that Wakefield has its voice back in Parliament again.
Very proud to take my seat in Parliament earlier today.
Thank you to the people of
Wakefield for the trust you have placed in me to
be your MP.
I will be your voice in
Westminster and challenge this Government
to get a better deal for Wakefield.
This morning I met with @Google to talk about Google searches for incel culture and how the internet can be made safer after the tragedy last year in #Plymouth. There’s a lot more work to do on incel culture but today was helpful.

Fraud is rife under the Conservatives.
Britain deserves better than this.
Spent the afternoon today with my lovely boyfriend doing cultural things around London. Had a lovely time looking at art at the Tate Modern #dayoff
The #Plymouth Conservative Councillors who moved to Gloucestershire but refuse to resign are not a great example of leadership in local government. They should resign, trigger by-elections and let local people have local elected representatives https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/news/plymouth-news/councillors-who-moved-gloucestershire-defended-7245314
Thank you to the @RoyalNavy for the loan of their Merlin MK2 helicopter for #ArmedForcesDay on #plymouth hoe yesterday for #ArmedForcesDay
Johnson has been privately claiming that he will hold an early election. Keir’s message to him is simple: bring it on.
The Tories now face a credible Labour party: a government-in-waiting with a plan to deliver on the country’s demands.
We will not shy away from that responsibility, duck those challenges or fail to grasp the opportunities our country has.

Great day on #plymouth Hoe for #ArmedForcesDay 👇🇬🇧
I had a really good day commemorating Armed Forces Day up on the Hoe. The weather was a bit weird but there was still a hive of activity.
It was great to catch up with @labourforces in the Veterans Village.

It was great having @LabourForces in #plymouth today speaking to people about Labour’s support for Armed forces personnel, their families and veterans. Labour backs our armed forces. #ArmedForcesDay
I’ve had a superb time on #Plymouth Hoe for #ArmedForcesDay. Plymouth is a military city. I’m proud to come from a military family and as @UKLabour’s Shadow Armed Forces Minister it’s been good to speak to those serving, their families and veterans.
Today is #ArmedForcesDay. It is public celebration of the service and selfless commitment of our Forces, their families and veterans. From deployments abroad in response to the invasion of Ukraine to deployments at home during the COVID pandemic, our Armed Forces are essential.
🚨 Job Alert 🚨 - I'm hiring a new caseworker for my #Plymouth office.

Today on #ArmedForcesDay, we celebrate the special service our UK Forces personnel, veterans, and their families give to our country.
From helping Britain through Covid to keeping us safe and protecting our NATO allies, Labour is deeply proud of you. Thank you.
What a great initiative by a group of Plymouth students. There is a real housing crisis in our city and we need more genuinely affordable homes to be built - and fast.
