The Conservatives are soft on rape, soft on rapists and they don’t like to face the fact that they’re letting sex offenders off and letting survivors down. No-one is going to stop me from standing up for victims. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/jun/30/minister-complains-speaker-labour-remarks-convictions?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

This is pretty good from the @LabourHealth / @wesstreeting team - responding to Sajid Javid's promise of a 'digital revolution' for the NHS....

They've dug out 16 previous occasions in the last 10 years where health secretaries have made similar speeches

Our international reputation as a safe place to do business, our stability & our rules-based economy are being totally trashed by the Government.

There is a globally financed attack on these rights and we must respond in kind.

📻 ICYMI LISTEN: The Govt is playing a very dangerous game with the NI Protocol.

The UK must uphold its international obligations and strive to maintain peace and consensus in Northern Ireland.

The Speaker has granted two UQs today @MariaMillerUK rapes not taken forward for criminal prosecution and @DianaJohnsonMP ensuring that US women’s rights to reproductive healthcare are protected

In the debate on NI Protocol Bill where the ERG briefing sheet clearly moves from the Act of Union at the start of 19th Century to the 1998 Agreement but speakers seem oblivious to any significant developments in between

Somewhat galling to hear the argument that respecting the Good Friday Agreement is the Government’s primary concern when made by those who were reckless about the implications of Brexit on the GFA in 2016 and/or 2019.

“Do I consider this to be legal under international law? Will it achieve its aims? Does it at least maintain the standing of the UK in the eyes of the world?”

Former PM Theresa May says the answer to all three questions is ‘no’.

She isn’t supporting the Gov’s protocol bill.

📻 ICYMI: I was on @BBCPolitics Westminster Hour on Sunday discussing a huge range of topics from #Wakefieldbyelection to standards in the House of Commons and much more.

Today the Northern Ireland Protocol Bill has its second reading in the Commons. It is worth a reminder as to why it is so awful - being divisive, damaging on multiple fronts, officially justified on flimsy grounds, and unofficially justified on a plan that isn't working. 1/n

📺 WATCH: The Govt's approach to the Northern Ireland Protocol is nothing short of reckless.

During the @CommonsPACAC we spoke to international trade experts on the legal position the Govt is taking & the precedents being used as cover for ripping up a supposed 'oven-ready deal'

The PM just admitted on @BBCr4today that the economy “has not grown as it should.”
Lack of growth has hit wages, tax revenues and national prosperity.
I’d like to thank him for confirming what Labour has been saying is true.

On #ArmedForcesDay2022 I want to thank all the Armed Forces Personnel in #BristolSouth.

You & your families continue to give our country so much & I know that our community will remain eternally grateful.

Today’s US Supreme Court decision is an unimaginable blow to women across the United States.

Access to a safe, legal abortion was a right enshrined law. That it is no longer is shameful. #RoeVsWade

It's vital to hear from care-experienced young people. Only then can we deliver and unlock a social care system that works for them.

There are over 80,000 children in England now in care so we must secure measures that make their lives better. #ItsOurCare

Wakefield’s win will go down in history, @SimonLightwood.

I’m so proud of our Labour Party and the changes we’ve made to be a government in waiting.

#SocialCare isn't just about residential care.

On #LDWeek22 I want to raise awareness of those who care for people with learning disabilities and ensure they have access to wonderful opportunities.

The dedication of these carers - many unpaid - cannot be praised highly enough.

📺 WATCH: Despite the eagerness of the PM to erode standards in public life, @UKLabour's commitment remains & we will continue to pursue bringing back good standards of government.

It's what the country expects of good, decent governance.

Wakefield was a great campaign to be part of, delighted people there have put their trust in ⁦@UKLabour⁩ thanks to all brilliant activists and staff. Look forward to welcoming ⁦⁦@simonlightwood⁩ to Westminster next week

On #ChildrensHospiceWeek I want to thank everyone who works & fund raises for our children's hospices.

These hospices are dedicated #ForTheChildren & help families make the most of their lives together, no matter how short. @jessiemaytrust @Tog4ShortLives.

This Conservative Government’s Bill of Rights con is an attack on women.

It will make it harder for victims of rape to get justice.

But it comes as no surprise from a Govt that has effectively decriminalised rape.

People are in so much pain, they are pulling their own teeth out.

DIY dentistry in one of the richest countries on the planet.

The Conservatives’ response is to blame the patients.

This is so far from the original promise of the NHS.

Care must be provided to all who need it.

We have published the letter sent to us By Lord Geidt clarifying his reasons for resigning as the Independent Advisor on Ministerial Interests.

In @HouseofCommons chamber where @wesstreeting just starting our debate on access to GP services and NHS dentistry. Across the country people are seeing the pressures in the system, all MPs are seeing in our casework and still no workforce plan from the Government to help

Fantastic to be back in Wakefield with Labour’s brilliant candidate @SimonLightwood.

This Thursday is Wakefield’s chance for a fresh start.

A chance to send a message to the Tories that they can’t ignore: Wakefield deserves better.

📺 WATCH ICYMI: On Tuesday I spoke in a debate on the desperate need for the Portishhead branch line to be opened.

The Govt has dragged its feet for too long. This harms our ability to tackle climate change with public transport or connect new homes being built in Bristol South.
