It was great to go and learn about the @BritishCouncil #CulturalProtectionFund and the work they do in different countries around the world

Grateful to @BallBecca for all the amazing work she does for arts and culture in Sunderland. Thank you for your kind words https://www.artsprofessional.co.uk/magazine/job-ladder/rebecca-ball

Instead of trying to resolve the rail dispute the Tories are using it as another excuse to attack trade unions my piece for @LabourList https://labourlist.org/2022/06/breaking-strikes-using-agency-workers-is-recklessly-gambling-with-public-safety/

It was great to see the amazing new technologies in motorsport, and the great advances made in green technology shown in this Formula E car for example.

Not often you get so close to an F1 car, but they wouldn’t let me drive it!

The Royal Mail Delivery Office in Sunderland is among the first in the country to replace their diesel and petrol vehicles with an all-electric fleet, as part of the company’s plans to decarbonise operations. I was pleased to be able to call in recently to see them in action 🔌🌱

Like Mrs Thatcher, @BorisJohnson wants to go “on and on and on” as PM for at least another decade.

Imagine Britain held hostage for so long with a weekly litany of lies, incompetence, abuse of power, ministerial scandals, govt illegality & Downing St-led corruption.

Today, on #ArmedForcesDay we thank our Armed Forces for keeping us safe and for their service on the front line.

A Labour government would make sure our veterans get a better deal with fair access to the housing and the services they deserve.

Opportunity to meet Palestinian families facing eviction in Masafer Yatta, Occupied Palestinian Territories.

The 🇬🇧 long standing position is that evictions and demolitions are illegal under international law in all but the most exceptional circumstances.

👇see my video

Minister @amandamilling🇬🇧 meets the Salem family in #SheikhJarrah who face eviction after 50+ years in their home. #Evictions are illegal under international law in all but the most exceptional circumstances. Thank you to our partners @NRC_MiddleEast for the impactful briefing.

Very pleased to welcome Minister for the Middle East @amandamilling🇬🇧 to #Jerusalem! The Minister will be spending the next two days in the OPTs🇵🇸 to understand more about the impact of the occupation, and to engage with a wide range of Palestinians along the way.🤝

My first stop in #OPTs: Had a great briefing from @DanielSeidemann on settlement expansion in East Jerusalem

Heard how the E1 settlement plan would seriously hinder a two state solution and prospects of peace. UK urges Israeli Government to end settlement expansion @Diane_Corner

"They've been asleep at the wheel for 12 years," says Shadow Health Sec @wesstreeting MP.

❌DIY dentistry that belongs in the Victorian era

❌ 2-year waiting lists

❌An exodus of dentists from the NHS

For the sake of millions, Ministers must do more than tweak a broken system

We have a Prime Minister who wants people to believe that we are all the same, that things can’t change.

All I would say to the people of Britain is this:

Judge the Conservatives on their record and judge Labour on ours.

Brill to join @NTynesideLab, MPs, Cllrs and activists to celebrate 25yrs of @alancampbellmp representing Tynemouth. Great to hear him and @JulieElliottMP reflect on winning in 1997. An honour to speak about how @UKLabour transformed life for my family and so many others around us

So depressing watching the morning news. A #Tory government trying to ship out some of the neediest people in the world to #Rwanda, attacking the European Convention of Human Rights, breaking its word on the #NIProtocol. A lying law-breaking, shambolic morally deliquent cabinet!

There's a debate tomorrow on passport backlogs. Following @HM_Passport's refusal to allow me to visit Durham Passport Office, I’m asking staff to share any concerns, anonymously if needed.

📩Get in touch: mary.foy.mp@parliament.uk

It hasn’t sunk in yet but…SOME NEWS.

I am so profoundly grateful & relieved.

Thank you to the judge, my stellar legal team & the 29,000 people who contributed to my legal defence fund. I literally couldn’t have done it without you 🙏🙏🙏

@TomBlenkinsop @TheNorthernEcho Met a trader today who paid a substantial sum to have his food van at the show. Absolutely gutted at the actual attendance. Lost money. Not just the public who were cheated. Small traders as well.

Soaring childcare costs are piling pressure on families.

Kids are being priced out of early learning and parents out of working.

Yet the Tories have no plan.

Our Recovery Plan would keep costs down with investment in early years & school clubs for all.

Powerful interview with @GMBGarySmith about the huge shift that care workers put in during the pandemic.

Labour is committed to a National Care Service, starting with better pay, terms and progression for care workers - who are disproportionately women. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/unions-bid-pay-care-workers-27212171

Boris Johnson clings on because Conservative MPs are willing to tolerate the intolerable and defend the indefensible.

The problem isn’t just Boris Johnson, it’s the Conservative Party.

On every measure that matters, they’re holding Britain back 👇🏻 #BBCQT

Now recruiting via @uklabour for a Political Advisor (Media & Comms) to join the brilliant Shadow Education team.

Please apply, & please share with people you think would be great, but please don’t apply over Twitter!

I have written to HMRC calling for an investigation into Sajid Javid’s tax avoidance.

The Conservatives are happy to raise taxes on everyone else but not to pay their own.

The hypocrisy stinks.

I spent four years on the Treasury Committee and cannot recall a more pompous, poorly prepared and complacent witness as this Chancellor.

Superb questioning from @Siobhain_Mc

"Give the country a Prime Minister it deserves"

Wes Streeting, Shadow Health Secretary, calls for Conservative MPs to 'stop wasting people's time' and speak out against Boris Johnson

https://bbc.in/3PW0q8V | #R4Today

40 new hospitals were promised, the promise has been broken, and now rows within government are delaying vital hospital improvements and costing us all more money.

It’s a waste that patients and taxpayers can’t afford.

I’ve asked the NAO to investigate.

Brilliant night with so many friends. Absolutely in awe listening to @HillaryClinton at @DMiliband’s South Sheilds Lecture. Such a sense of purpose, passion, knowledge and intelligence. Loved her self description as ‘an optimist who worried a lot’.

what an amazing evening the message was hope and optimism over hat and negative thoughts an amazing privilege to meet @HillaryClinton and thank you @DMiliband

"To secure a path to peace, I believe we must ultimately look to systemic change rather than piecemeal improvements. It is important that we do not shy away from naming the occupation as an obstacle to peace."

@Bambos_MP on his recent visit to Palestin https://labourlist.org/2022/06/israels-occupation-of-the-west-bank-and-gaza-is-a-fundamental-barrier-to-peace/

The Government have finally responded to Labour's call for a Windfall Tax on oil and gas profits to lower energy bills.
Shamefully, Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak's dithering and delay has added £53 million onto household bills since Labour first called for this in January.

Good it seems the Chancellor is finally being dragged kicking & screaming to a U turn, and four months late adopting Labour’s call for a windfall tax on oil & gas producer profits.

Why has it taken so long?

Why have families had to struggle and worry while he dragged his feet?

The door of 10 Downing Street is one of the great symbols of British democracy.

A democracy which relies on the principles of honesty and integrity.

Its current inhabitant has failed to uphold these principles.

Boris Johnson must go.

Keir Starmer says Sue Gray's report "lays bare the rot that under this PM has spread in Number 10... definitive proof of how people in that building treated the British people with utter contempt."

"It was one rule for them, one rule for everyone else."

Pictures don’t exactly do it justice, but the Elizabeth Line is incredible.

Fast, silent, and beautifully designed.

Truly transformative for the capital. Well done to all who made it happen 🙌
