#ChristiansAtPride #MethodistsAtPride #lancasterPride #BigJesus what a ball. So much fun with these folk and many more. Some powerful conversations with young people who have been hurt by church.

Huge turn out for @PrideLancaster and proud to march with my church where all are welcome ❤️🏳️‍🌈 @MethodistGB

Great to see Gaia exhibition at Lancaster Priory and experience this impressive art work. I hope many of you will get chance to come and see it in the coming days and weeks. 🌍

I’ve watched numerous Mick Lynch interviews this week - including his total takedown of Tory MPs - and my overwhelming impression is that I bet he is a bloody tough negotiator. No wonder @grantshapps and @BorisJohnson are too frit to meet him. He’d run rings round them #RMTUnion

Great to see many Lancaster Labour members supporting @RMTunion members at Carnforth this morning.

No one takes strike action lightly, but these workers have been left with no choice. I’ll defend workers’ rights to withdraw their labour as a last resort.

This is solidarity.

Last week we had the devastating confirmation that Lancaster’s Dom Phillips had been killed in Brazil. Dom was a well respected British journalist and it’s vital the Foreign Office makes this an urgent diplomatic priority and supports Dom’s family.

Exclusive: An epilepsy drug that caused disabilities in thousands of babies, after being prescribed to pregnant women without warnings, could pose a risk to second and even third generation children, @MHRAgovuk has said. 🧵 1/8

.@CatSmithMP told @thesundaytimes the news would be devastating for families adding: "It underlines the need for the @hmtreasury to step up to their responsibilities around financial redress to those families.” 7/8 https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/fcfdc1c2-eef3-11ec-a9ff-89c063d2e5f0?shareToken=4b5e0e1fcd95fc5d454d026b74bb9d2e

🚂 Delighted! Rail Minister has been in touch with me to confirm our campaign has progressed to the next stage of re-opening

Major progress since I started campaigning on this in 2015, today’s announcement is another step to getting #FleetwoodBackOnTrack

🇺🇦 Drop-in hub for Ukrainians or host families - for support, advice, language lessons, clothes, toys and toiletries. If you’re a host family or if you’re Ukrainian please feel free to drop by, Marketgate at the back of Lancaster M&S.

Great to be able to hit 10,000 steps before lunchtime by joining #MakeVotesMatter walk from Lancaster to Garstang today - they’re doing Grasmere to Preston over six days. @MakeVotesMatter

24 MPs have signed an early day motion calling on the government to act on Cumberlege inquiry recommendations and specifically calls for compensation for people disabled by sodium valproate https://edm.parliament.uk/early-day-motion/59782 #compensationforvalproate @Emma4facs @JanetWilliams99

What an amazing turn out for the community litter pick we had in and around Arden Green and MacBeth Road. We did so much weeding and litter picking that we ran out of bin bags. I’ll be letting @wyrecouncil know about the bulk waste and blocked drains we found on our way.

If you have a life long condition it’s scary to be reassessed for support every few years. I’ve supported constituents with conditions like MND being called back to see if they got better. I hope this is a sign things will improve 🤞

Fleetwood runner Steve Bullows has ran 14 half marathons and has another 8 to go for @MummysStar, a charity dedicated to women diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy. If you’d like to sponsor Steve you can do so here https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/steve-bullowszodiacchallenge.

When I visited Forton Primary School the children raised this as their biggest issue. Soon after one of them was hit by a vehicle - thankfully recovering.

I’m pushing @LancashireCC but please sign this community petition if you agree we need safer roads: https://chng.it/w6K22YXJ

Does anyone know someone with the skills to create something like this in our city and possibly down at the ground?

We want to start painting this City Blue and White ready for the new season 🔵⚪️🔵

A very proud day for us.
We were presented with an award from our Local MP Cat Smith, for recognition for our hard work and dedication in our fund raising for providing Public Access defibrillators, to the community. It was a very special moment for us and one we will treasure 🤩

Do you know a builder who can help us out??

We need a builder to help us build the new dugouts.

We can give them advertisements for their business all year round as a thank you.

Please tag any builders who may be able to help our club out. 💙

Yet more coverage of the scandal of sodium valproate.
Today a focus on @Emma4facs and @JanetWilliams99 by ITV following @thesundaytimes investigation revealing valproate is still being wrongly prescribed to women in pregnancy: https://www.itv.com/news/granada/2022-05-18/women-still-are-not-being-told-medication-could-cause-birth-defects #valproatecrisis

Tonight on @GranadaReports, @JanetWilliams99 and @Emma4facs share their story.

Between them they have 7 children, all affected by lifelong disabilities - because of a medication they were told was safe to take in pregnancy.

They fought for answers for more than a decade (1/3)

In a @HouseofCommons debate earlier this week, Vice Chair @CatSmithMP explained how victims of #sodiumvalproate need a #redress scheme to ensure that that lifelong care is in place for those affected. #FirstDoNoHarm

Parish councillor @lisa_corkerry does a great job cleaning up in Ellel. Tory cuts to mean she needs to do this.

Vote Labour on Thursday for a hardworking cllr. Don’t let the Tories back in, this by-election was caused by them not turning up to any council meetings for 6 months!

So apparently this is a recognised tactic from the national Green Party and I feel mortified for them and for the poor innocent numbers they have mangled. I try really hard to see the Greens as natural allies but this just makes me think they are absolute pieces of work.

Here is one such recent example.

Labour came within 115 votes of winning this ward last time by the way.

How convenient that the Greens' nonsense 'poll' shows an unprecedented drop in Labour support completely out of keeping with anywhere else in Britain...

The Lancaster Greens have a new favourite trick. They announce just before an election that a new 'poll' reveals they're neck & neck with the Tories. They claim this 'poll' is their canvassing data. There's no independent way to verify the figures. What stops them making it up?

Cat Smith has joined their Lancaster and Fleetwood constituents in taking part in The #BigPlasticCount.

Thank you @CatSmithMP - together we can end the plastic crisis!

Hearing from disabled students about how local work experience placements have built their life skills and employability. Well done everyone at @BeaumontCollege in Lancaster!

Proud to be one of the 96 MPs participating in this. Less proud of how much plastic it feels impossible to avoid using.

Hope this will help me make more of a personal commitment but ultimately lead to policy changes. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-61393078

On behalf of Youth Hub Fleetwood, we would like to thank @CatSmithMP for taking time out of her day to visit us. It was a pleasure meeting Cat, and being supportive and passionate about the activity we do in supporting the youth in the local area 😄#fleetwood #youthsupport

In #Lancaster , pleasure to meet local MP @CatSmithMP for a Lancaster Blend tea at #LancasterCastle @LancCastle . As the #EuropeanYearOfYouth unfolds, we discussed youth policy topics and Lancaster/EU relations

I’ve met with @PatsyeStevenson @Emma4facs and @JanetWilliams99 three fabulous feisty women who are talking about the scandal that’s left 20,000 babies born with disabilities and women lied to #compensationforvalproate #valproatecrisis

"Young people have been forgotten about"

@CatSmithMP opening words truly summarise why our #RoadstoSuccess report is so important! Young #GRT people have suffered from lack of youth provision! This needs to change

Our CEO and @CatSmithMP highlight the importance of meaningful provision for GRT youth. In our research, youth organisations identified lack of financial incentive; peer pressure/bullying; and seasonal movement as factors for GRT youth leaving youth work schemes.

#RoadstoSuccess

Anti social behaviour is a serious issue, I want to help make Lancaster a welcoming place. I’m really pleased Priti Patel accepted my invitation to meet with @Lancaster_BID to hear about their work on this & hopefully we can make the case for restoring the police she cut.

If this is true, that the Prime Minister can’t do his job around women wearing office wear, can I suggest that it’s the Prime Minister who isn’t fit for office.

Woman wears clothes.
Man can’t do his job.

Tories accuse Labour’s Angela Rayner of Basic Instinct ploy to distract Boris Johnson:

I’ve been hearing from teachers across Lancaster and Fleetwood about the pressures they are facing post Covid. I am raising the cases from our communities with government and fighting for a better deal for our children and our teachers.

https://www.lancasterguardian.co.uk/education/lancaster-mp-says-under-pressure-teachers-need-more-government-support-post-covid-3659313

The moratorium was about safety. The moratorium on fracking was a political stunt for votes in the last general election - local people don’t want it, there’s no jobs, & it wouldn’t come on stream fast enough to lower energy bills. Renewables are faster, cleaner and sustainable.

Andrew Castle urged listeners to demand support from their MPs for those affected by the epilepsy drug sodium valproate, after hearing how it affected this caller's children.

@AndrewCastle63

Investigation: A scandal worse than thalidomide.
Six babies a month are still being born after exposure to sodium valproate, a drug known for decades to cause disabilities in babies. Women are still not receiving warnings: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/the-new-thalidomide-d5lmlwvdc
