I attended a positive #Crawley Town Board meeting earlier; it was encouraging to get updates on both Government and private investments in new infrastructure and skills across the Borough, including Manor Royal, Gatwick and town centre, with economic activity to pre-Covid levels.

The Prime Minister met 🇦🇺 PM @AlboMP in Madrid and welcomed Australia’s participation in the #NATOSummit as the largest non-NATO contributor.

They agreed on the importance of supporting Ukraine and welcomed the AUKUS pact, promoting stability & security in the Indo-Pacific.

Parliament: Today’s Foreign Affairs Committee took evidence from the Foreign Secretary on Russia, China, Ukraine and Pacific region policy.

I was pleased to get reaffirmation of British Indian Ocean Territory UK sovereignty, after concerns over Mauritian actions towards Chagos.

As Future of Aviation parliamentary group chair, earlier I wrote to the Prime Minister and tabled House of Commons questions to ensure Britain continues investment in becoming a world leader on sustainable aviation fuels research and development.

I was honoured to meet President Khama of Botswana in Parliament today. His administration ended trophy hunting and I’m inspired hearing from him as I pursue my Hunting Trophies (Import Prohibition) Bill which I introduced to the UK Parliament earlier this month.

This past week in New York, with several UK Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee colleagues, the British Ambassador and I met the UN Secretary General regarding Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and subsequent cost of living pressures on food and energy supplies, plus security issues.

Visiting Ifield Community College earlier - halfway stopover for the London to Brighton Electric Vehicle Rally - involving students from here in #Crawley and Ardingly College, with this fantastic STEM project. Good to be joined by Mid Sussex MP, Mims Davies too.

New York: With several UK Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee colleagues today I met the UN Secretary General about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the resultant cost of living pressures on global food and energy supplies. Negotiations on Ukraine grain exports are encouraging.

With a UK Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee delegation, earlier in Washington I met with the US State and Justice departments, as well as members of Congress about British and American actions tackling Russian and Chinese illicit finance and nefarious, anti-democratic attacks.

MP @HenrySmithUK asks PQ on introducing CCTV in fish slaughterhouses. Minister @Jochurchill_MP: “As part of the Action Plan on Animal Welfare we are considering general improvements that could be made to the welfare of farmed fish at the time of killing”

Pleased to meet with the British Ambassador in Washington DC today discussing UK/US joint actions on assisting Ukraine against Russian aggression, threats from China and Iran, plus cooperation in the Indo-Pacific and with Australia regarding the AUKUS security pact.

In recent years Labour have received over £100m in union funds, the Party’s leadership should tell the RMT to call off this week’s unnecessary train strikes; UK workers deserve better.

Government have invested billions in our railway.

As Future of Aviation All Party Parliamentary Group Chair I was pleased welcoming sector representatives, such as Rolls Royce and Heathrow, to Westminster about the importance of UK leadership on developing sustainable aviation fuels and a successful Jet Zero Council.

Good to spend time with my daughter and son today, who I’m proud are doing far better at university and school than I did!

This evening I was also looking through my late dad’s album from when he was in the Royal Navy.

The way health and care works across Sussex is changing.

Health and care organisations in Sussex have been working together for the benefit of local people for a number of years. From 1 July, we will formally become an #IntegratedCareSystem.


It’s not right that illegal migrant removals, as mandated by our elected House of Commons and upheld by UK courts, can be halted by international bodies like the ECHR. In Parliament I welcomed the Home Secretary and Deputy Prime Minister introducing a new British Bill of Rights.

Parliament: At Prime Minister’s Questions today I spoke in opposition to proposals for 10,000 housing units on green fields west of Ifield, which would put pressure on #Crawley and was pleased to get confirmation of a brown-field first future planning policy for new developments.
