Last week I spoke at the @CBItweets #AchievingNetZero Conference about the opportunities of green growth and what we’re doing in Government to help

Summary here 👉 https://bit.ly/3MYIBDb

Great to approve a big boost in the Warm Home Discount just now in the Commons.

Will mean that payments totalling £474m (was £350m) will reach 2.8m households (instead of 2.2m) of the most fuel poor & vulnerable groups.

A big difference for this winter!

📢 More business leaders & managers can now do our fantastic #HelpToGrow Management programme

Valuable training courses to help businesses grow & prosper - now open to more people

We'll continue to back entrepreneurs and businesses every step of the way

I know from my time as Care Minister how devastating dementia can be for families. Good dementia care - like the @kmptnhs fast-track diagnosis service - is vital for turning the tide on this cruel disease. Thank you to all our brilliant carers. #CarersWeek https://bit.ly/3aIfCq6

Our transition to #NetZero is an extraordinary growth opportunity for UK businesses and for us as a country.

Great to speak at @CBITweets #AchievingNetZero Conference today on the opportunities of green growth and what we’re doing to help.

"Whether they’re inventing or investing, there is no way to net zero without business" - says HMT’s @Helen_Whately - outlining how govt wants to support them, in what it sees as the greatest opportunity for jobs and prosperity since the industrial revolution #achievingnetzero

Almost 18,000 families in Wales are benefitting from tax-free childcare. Another example of Govt delivering for people across the UK 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Many more people could be saving £2,000 per child on childcare costs. Visit http://gov.uk/tax-free-childcare to find out more https://businessnewswales.com/almost-18000-families-in-wales-used-tax-free-childcare-in-the-last-year/

I'll forever be grateful to the thousands of people who stepped forward to help during the pandemic through our @NHSVolResponder scheme & those continuing to work or volunteer in our NHS and care sector today. Thank you! #VolunteersWeek

I will be voting in support of @BorisJohnson this afternoon. He steered us through the pandemic, set us on the path to recovery & stood up to Putin in Ukraine. In 2019 he won a mandate to lead our country. We live in tough times & now is the time to get on with the job.

From the vaccine rollout to our response to Russian aggression, the PM has shown the strong leadership our country needs.

I am backing him today and will continue to back him as we focus on growing the economy, tackling the cost of living and clearing the Covid backlogs.

Last week @RishiSunak set out our plan to help families with the cost of living. £15bn in new support, including £1,200 for 8m low income households and doubling our universal support to £400. Our help is targeted, timely & more generous than Labour proposals

The government support package announced today is what we needed.

There are no magic bullets in a global crisis but the combo of universal and targeted support is a sensible use of funds and will make a critical difference to millions of people and help protect our economy.

Credit where it’s due: this Government package will make a considerable difference to pensioners, especially those on low incomes who need extra support the most. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/rishi-sunak-to-cut-energy-bills-by-hundreds-of-pounds-with-windfall-tax-on-oil-and-gas-firms-p9ntgs6bp

In total, the measures announced today totals £15bn in support.

Combined with the cost of living support we have already announced, this means we have provided £37bn of support for families - and three quarters of this will go to the poorest households.

Speaking in @UKParliament today, Chancellor @RishiSunak announced that almost all of the eight million most vulnerable households in the country will receive at least £1200 in support to help with rising costs.

We have doubled the Energy Bills Support Scheme from £200 to £400, as Chancellor @RishiSunak explained today in @UKParliament.

This is a one off payment to help with rising costs, and will now not need to be paid back.

I’m proud to say that around three quarters of the total cost of living support will go to vulnerable households.

Read more about today's announcements: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/millions-of-most-vulnerable-households-will-receive-1200-of-help-with-cost-of-living

I’ve heard people’s concerns about the impact of the Energy Bills Support Scheme repayments on future bills.

So those repayments will be cancelled.

Furthermore, the £200 of support for household energy bills will be doubled to £400 for everyone.

We will send a one-off £650 cost of living payment directly to around eight million of the lowest income households.

Worth over £5 billion, there will be no need for people to fill out forms – we will send the payment straight into bank accounts.

Childcare is perhaps the biggest issue that comes up on our forums #childcare

Guest post - Exchequer Secretary @Helen_Whately explains how tax-free childcare works and how to claim it: https://bit.ly/38hRUjB

Our Fuel Duty cut was put in place to help families and businesses & needs to be passed on at the pump. We’re making this very clear to suppliers. @CMA stand ready to act if competition law is being broken.

On top of £9 billion to help with energy bills, we’re making it easier to switch to more efficient, greener heating.

Households across England & Wales can now get £5,000 grants to fit #heatpumps - reducing bills & emissions 👇 https://www.gov.uk/government/news/ditching-costly-gas-and-oil-is-cheaper-thanks-to-heat-pump-scheme

Growing the economy is one of the best ways to help with the cost of living and that’s why I’m pleased today’s figures show the UK economy is continuing to grow.

The economy is now bigger than it was before Covid hit, and growing faster than the US, Germany, France, and Italy.
