Whilst speaking at a conference on Thursday, I made an inappropriate remark that does not reflect my actual view. I apologise for any offence caused.

I am pleased to support Dame Caroline Dinenage MP's efforts to raise awareness of the important role that unpaid carers play in each of our communities. Millions of carers have gone to extraordinary lengths over the past two years, and we cannot thank them enough. @cj_dinenage

Last tweet because everyone has better things to do on a Friday night, but to all the Conservative MPs and cabinet ministers retweeting this, please do read the whole thread and feed back my critique to your boss, won’t you?

There *is* plenty to criticise in the code and supporting docs - the attempt to shore up the PM’s direct link with the electorate, bypassing parliament; the failure to give the “independent” adviser Lord Geidt the ability to investigate independently…

… what he has done is make explicit what was always the case - that differing breaches of the code attract different sanctions. Baroness Warsi broke the code in 2012 and Cameron accepted an apology from her.

Hate to be all earnest, but journalists and MPs saying the PM has watered the ministerial code down need to correct themselves - the expectation of resignation if ministers mislead parliament is clearly still there. He “hasn’t changed the rules mid-game”…

Great news that £850,000 has been made available to South Derbyshire District Council and Derby City Council for the Infinity Garden Village project from DLUHC! This will mean more jobs and houses for those in South Derbyshire!
