RIP Dame Deborah James.

Her work through @bowelbabe has changed peoples lives and will continue to change treatment for those affected by bowel cancer.

Our thoughts are with her family and friends.

Today marks a crucial milestone in delivering on our promise to the British public to take back control of our borders.

These new measures coming in force will help us crack down on abuse of the system & evil people-smugglers.

Putting our #NewPlanForImmigration into action 🇬🇧

🔥Enhancing our energy security and…

🏘 Unlocking local and national benefits must be the priorities for the government’s review on shale gas.

Thanks to @cmackinlay for signing up 👍

Six years ago, 🇬🇧 voted for #Brexit. I was there at the #VoteLeave offices having driven up from the #Thanet count. Victory became obvious as the night rolled on with the finish line of 16.763m reached at 6.02am with final no 17.41m. A long night but one I’ll always remember.

Our new Bill of Rights will replace Labour’s Human Rights Act to strengthen free speech, deport more foreign offenders, & prevent early release of dangerous prisoners. It will make us freer and our streets safer.

Look today how many #Labour MPs stay silent, then look Register of Members’ interests for donations from these #Unions. Same old politics whilst stopping people from going to work. We all supported public transport & jobs with taxpayer cash across the pandemic. This is the thanks

Conservatives @Conservatives

Families are facing global cost of living pressures. Labour's response? Backing today's rail strikes.

Their union friends admit it will cost families, yet Labour won't condemn it 👇

Hugely sensible summary of why change to #NIProtocol is needed. The voices shouting ‘international law’ and ‘you signed it’ are simply wrong. Both the Withdrawal aggrmt and the protocol allowed for change as and when needed (clue - it’s in the wording).

Today, on the 40th anniversary of the end of the Falklands Conflict, we remember the 255 members of service personnel who died to protect the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands.

I'd be pleased to hear from anyone in conflict with @UKPC_Ltd. You know, the company that has obscure signs in tiny font at many out of town retail parks then you get a fine, threats of CCJs, bailiffs etc. I'm in a battle with them. It seems I'm not alone.

Much focus by #government on housing & how to free up 2nd homes to market. Surcharging #CouncilTax on empty homes too blunt imho. Surely better to encourage the sale of these properties. I’ve offered the solution to every Chancellor - it’s a tax incentive.

Im not one to get involved in politics but today I visited my MP @cmackinlay I expressed my concern over a level of playing field of food standards, food education, high input costs and uk food self sufficiency. I look forward to seeing @cmackinlay on our farm soon @NFUtweets 🤞

Exams are underway for the first time in two years. Over this period young people have shown incredible resilience.

It would be a crying shame if rail unions were to actively prevent some pupils from travelling to their exams later this month just to suit their political ends.

Commemoration of #Falklands40 today @UKParliament with #PrincessRoyal and @CommonsSpeaker speaker. Lest we forget those lost to the war while we celebrate our victory.

Very disappointing @RMTunion are taking action that could damage the rail network after taxpayers contributed £16bn, £600 per household, to keep jobs during Covid. We're working with industry to reduce disruption caused by strikes but urge unions to come to talks with employers.

✅ The National Security Bill has passed its 2nd Reading in the House of Commons.

🇬🇧 It will protect our country, interests and values against hostile state threats.

Doing nothing in the face of evolving threats is not an option.

My thanks to #Sandwich Town Council and St Clement’s Church for the excellent Civic service for #platinumjubilee2022.

“I have been humbled and deeply touched that so many people have taken to the streets to celebrate my Platinum Jubilee.”

As the #PlatinumJubilee weekend draws to a close, Her Majesty has sent a thank you message to all those who have marked her 70 years as Queen.

Thank you, Ma’am.

70 glorious years of dedicated and inspiring service to the nation. Every moment devoted to the people of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth.

God Save The Queen!

👑 On the first day of the #PlatinumJubilee weekend and the anniversary of The Queen’s Coronation, we look back on Her Majesty’s life of service from her time as a young Princess supporting the war effort to her extraordinary commitment to her role as Monarch.

Capital invested in 🇬🇧 wind farms approx £50bn. This morning, power output under 1% of our needs. I’m not opposed to any energy plan that works but this #renewables plan clearly doesn’t cut it. Gas supplying 58%, nuclear 19% (much being permanently turned off in July), solar 9%.

I see that #windenergy not providing much to energy needs today at 1.81%. Solar doing OK - sort of sunny, daytime, summer at 13%. Gas 55%, nuclear (much to be turned off in July - 15%). On that basis, on low wind days we’d need factors more capacity to meet our needs. #Badplan

#GreenTokenGiving now live until end of July by @Asda #SouthThanet. Constituents can cast their vote to support one of three local causes by visiting:
#Broadstairs store part of the scheme (not smaller #Ramsgate) £500, £400 & £300 available to the winners

“We’re begging and pleading with these oil companies to go gangbusters to go and find new oil and gas in the North Sea… So taking money out of their pocket does not seem to me to be a very sensible thing to do.” @cmackinlay told @Iromg on @TalkTV

Pleased to welcome @DavidGHFrost to #SouthThanet @Conservatives #jubileecelebrations @yarrow_hotel #Broadstairs. As 🇬🇧 #Brexit negotiator his account of that tough period was fascinating as were his thoughts on future #Conservative policies. Our sincere thanks.

The @Kent_cc Helping Hands Scheme to provide laptops to disadvantaged youngsters remains open. Part of the Government's #Covid19 grant funding for digital inclusion. Take-up in #Thanet has been low so let's get our fair share. Details here

This support to assist #costofliving is very welcome & targeted at lower paid, pensioners & the disabled. My deep seated concerns about #WindfallTax remain. There are investment incentives for energy cos but 65% tax rate is penal & sends wrong message about doing business in 🇬🇧

Today is the county day of #KENT, the feast day of Saint Augustine, who founded @CburyCathedral and became the first Archbishop.
Wishing all Kent residents a very happy #KentDay

Today we remember the life of Fusilier Lee Rigby, who on this day in 2013 was murdered in a savage act of terror near his barracks in Woolwich. Thinking of his family and friends today, & everyone who served with him in the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.

We will never forget him.

On this day 40 years ago, British troops landed at San Carlos Bay ahead of the liberation of the Falkland Islands in June.

We remember their bravery and sacrifice.

The Falkland Islands are a vital part of the British family and we will always uphold their sovereignty 🇬🇧🇫🇰

Small Modular ☢️ could be the quick way to improve 🇬🇧 energy security. Big one-off nuclear stations won’t: too costly & slow. We need a ‘Model T’ SMR model working with friendly international partners. Interchangeability of parts, skills, engineering.

@BorisJohnson @sajidjavid 👇@sajidjavid has replied on the proposed "WHO treaty”

He’s clear the UK won't sign up to anything that comprises our sovereignty or could implement lockdowns out of our control

👉The text won’t please all, but I know @sajidjavid will ensure the WHO does not decide our freedoms

📢 NEWS: We’re launching negotiations for a new free trade deal with Latin America’s second largest economy.

Very pleased to welcome @NeilDotObrien Minister for Levelling Up to #Ramsgate following @luhc grant of £300k to @heritage_lab project to bring Granville Hotel back to former glory & back into economic use. Then tour of the local £20m Levelling Up scheme sites. @1RobKenyon

This is an historic day for our alliance & the world. Not long ago nobody would have predicted this step, but Putin’s appalling ambitions have transformed the geopolitical contours of our continent.

I look forward to welcoming Finland & Sweden into the @NATO family very soon.

Jens Stoltenberg @jensstoltenberg

Honoured to receive the applications for #Finland's & #Sweden's membership in #NATO. This is a good day at a critical time for our security. Your applications are an historic step.

As Home Secretary, I will continue to listen to and back our police officers to make our streets safer.

That's why I've made it easier for officers to use vital powers like stop & search, following a pilot programme, to make those who contemplate carrying weapons think twice.
