New: Our plan to unlock export markets worth £20bn+ by resolving a hit list of ~100 priority trade barriers 🚧

It will:
🇬🇧 allow UK exports to reach hundreds of millions of new customers
💷 create opportunities across sectors
🔧 support UK jobs

💷 What currency would Scotland use?
🇪🇺 Would they join the EU?
🏢 What would happen to the financial services industry in Edinburgh?
🪖What would happen to the military?

These questions, and many more go unanswered whilst the SNP spend £20m on yet another referendum campaign.

Over the coming years, the UK will require a steady supply of critical minerals for a wide range of tech.

To protect our national security, it is vital we develop domestic supply chains and partner with like-minded allies.

Our upcoming Critical Minerals Strategy will say more.

At @CommonsBEIS today, I asked @KwasiKwarteng about the government’s plans for accessing critical minerals 👇🏽

🗣️ The 1️⃣st day of 🇲🇿🇬🇧 #Mozambique in the #UK Week continues with @tradegovuk #Exports Minister @MinFreerHMG opening a @ChathamHouse @AfricaProg panel session on the #Mozambican #energy sector ⚡️🔌 with 🇲🇿 Minister of Mineral Resources & Energy and 🇲🇿 High Commissioner to the UK

A pleasure to welcome His Excellency Minister Carlos Zacarias to London for the first @UkinMozambique week. 🇬🇧 🤝 🇲🇿

We discussed growing stronger economic links, to create opportunities for our businesses and boost renewable energy projects across both our countries ✅

The EU cannot continue to disingenuously downplay the socio-economic challenges Northern Ireland is facing.

We want a negotiated outcome but the EU must accept that the Protocol needs to change.

We need practical, durable, long-term solutions. Our legislation provides those.

📢the UK's investment scene just keeps getting better. @tradegovuk Inward Investment Results for 2021-2022 show, in that time:
💼FDI created nearly 85k new jobs
🤝DIT supported over 1k FDI projects
🇬🇧65% new jobs created landed outside London and the South East #LevellingUp

Tonight @HouseofCommons has backed the NI Protocol Bill.

It provides practical solutions to problems caused by the Protocol and protects the Belfast (Good Friday) Agreement.

While a negotiated outcome remains our preference - the EU must accept changes to the Protocol itself.

🛥️🌏 Thanks to @SubseaCraft in Portsmouth for showing me their amazing maritime technology and telling me about their plans for global growth.

🇬🇧✅ It's always great to see first-hand how exports power prosperity – especially here in my own county.

Reading the new Lib Dem MP for Tiverton and Honiton’s policy proposal on fuel tax cutting I believe he should join me on the @Conservative benches as his views are far more in line with our existing policies than the party he purports to represent.

Russia has been cutting off gas supply to parts of Europe.

Britain gets very little gas from Russia - and even those imports are down 75% since last year.

But we need to be prepared for any knock-on effects. Here are the steps I’m taking to bolster winter security of supply 👇🏾

The NI Protocol is undermining the Belfast (Good Friday) Agreement. The EU are unwilling to change the Protocol, therefore we must act.

Read my @FT piece on how our legislation will fix the practical problems the Protocol is causing👇

We must support Ukraine to strengthen their hand in both the war and any future negotiations.

President @EmmanuelMacron and I agreed to step up our military support for Ukraine at this critical moment, and to enhance Anglo-French cooperation on defence and security.

The global challenges we face demand stronger R+D 🌍collaboration.

That’s why I’ve been making clear at @G7 @EUREKA_NETWORK @HorizonEU:

✔️UK🇬🇧commitment to global Science🔬

✔️UK🇬🇧continuing ask to join Horizon🇪🇺

Brexit: Government plans £15bn science fund amid EU-UK science row

Now is not the time to give up on Ukraine, they need the support and resolve of the @G7 more than ever.

The UK will continue to back Ukraine every step of the way, because we know that their security is our security, and their freedom is our freedom.

Towns and cities across the UK (and the world) marked #ArmedForcesDay today.

The annual event is a chance for the nation to celebrate the range of activities & people comprising HM Armed Forces.

Find out more about #ArmedForcesWeek:

From all the #BritishArmy, on #ArmedForcesDay, I want to say thank you to the military families, communities, veterans' organisations, businesses and charities that support our people. You are vital to the fighting spirit and wellbeing of our Army. We couldn't do it without you.

The Queen is Head of the Armed Forces, and much of her working life has been spent visiting serving troops and their families in the UK and overseas, as well as supporting veterans.

Obviously it’s a good night for Labour and the Lib Dems and a bad one for the Tories but historically, byelections tell us very little about subsequent general elections.
The Tories lost 15 seats at byelections between 1979 and 1992 but went on to win in 1983, 1987 and 1992.
