The Solicitor General visited the @GovernmentLegal Leeds office today, thanking staff for their continuing hard work and hearing more about the exciting and critical work of the office.

Today, the Solicitor General visited @WestYorksPolice to speak with disclosure specialists on the implementation and impact of the revised Disclosure Guidelines. The force has worked collaboratively with the CPS in order to deliver consistent and improved disclosure practices.

It is extremely important there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.

The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against Mr Ali are active and that he has a right to a fair trial.

The CPS has charged Ali Harbi Ali with the murder of MP Sir David Amess following a review of evidence gathered by the @metpoliceuk.

A genuinely great man who always fought for the underdog. David took up so many important causes - from animal welfare to endometriosis - and was so proud of his beloved constituency. Am reeling.
#Conservative MP dies after stabbing

He served with particular distinction in the Home Office and as Security Minister. If the government needed something done well and speedily - and sensibly explained - James was the man to do it.

Desperately sad to hear the news about James Brokenshire.

James was the nicest, kindest and most unassuming of politicians but also extraordinarily effective.

The UK Supreme Court has agreed with the Law Officers that two Scottish Government Bills (the UNCRC Bill and the European Charter of Local Self Government (Scotland) Bill) are outside the power of the Scottish Parliament.

Double child killer Colin Pitchfork was released from prison yesterday.

Prisons and Probation Minister Alex Chalk: "The set of restrictions imposed on this guy is the tightest leash I have ever seen. If he puts a foot out of line, he will be straight back inside."

Really valuable to spend 2 days on the wings in HMP Wandsworth. Meant I cd have many detailed conversations with officers and prisoners - impossible on a quick visit. Impressed by the candour of the Governor and his commitment to expanding regime for inmates

The UK should be very proud of what you have done. Every one of you have displayed the highest levels of professionalism and bravery. You have helped thousands to get to a better future and safety. Thank you. @16AirAssltBde @VAdmBenKey @DefenceHQ

To be a great prison officer requires a special set of skills: judgement, intelligence, resilience, sensitivity, composure. No surprise that the brilliant @unlockedgrads scheme is so selective:

Great visit to @HMPCardiff today. Even though prisoners typically stay in this Cat B reception prison for just a few months, really impressive work is going on here to use that limited time to educate, train and rehabilitate prisoners. Great to see.

UPDATE: There have been no reported UK military or UK Government casualties following the incidents in Kabul.

UK forces are working closely with our partners to provide security and medical assistance.

We're hosting a free virtual Employer Summit with @NewFutrsNet on 21 October 2021.

Prisoners are assembling energy-efficient lights to help the fight against climate change.

We'll install 50,000 of them in prisons across the country - reducing electricity use by 62% and saving £2.5m a year.

With compassion and quick thinking prison governors, staff and wing officers saved literally *thousands* of prisoners’ lives at the height of the pandemic. Good to see BBC reporting on this hidden achievement (at 23:20)

Really valuable visit to HMP Hollesley Bay in Suffolk. I strongly support plans from the dynamic new Governor to get more offenders into key shortage occupations, from haulage to hospitality. The need is great - no time to waste!

If you're in Afghanistan and need assistance, the UK Government can help in the following ways.

We can support:
➡️ British Nationals
➡️ Current and former UK Gov staff
➡️ Vulnerable non-British Nationals

The UK has a proud history of resettling the world’s most vulnerable.

Our brand new scheme will welcome Afghans most at risk, prioritising women, girls and children.

This is how it will work ⤵

Hundreds of prisoners are to be trained as chefs by cooking for fellow inmates as the Government expands a jail kitchen scheme to boost their employment prospects.

At Cookham Wood YOI. Locking up young people is a last resort, so it’s welcome that numbers in custody in Eng & Wal have dropped over the last decade to under 600 (of which 86 are in Cookham Wood). Maximising the educational offer is key!

Hitting Net Zero means prisons playing their part. We’re installing thousands of new solar panels across the prison estate - cutting emissions and reducing bills for the taxpayer

Really good visit to HMP Berwyn today. Very encouraging to see final preparations for an impressive new Resettlement Hub - a state-of-the-art facility where prisoners can meet work coaches and get training to prepare for employment on the outside

Really valuable visit to HMP Eastwood Park. So powerful to hear direct from a prisoner how the professionalism and concern of a particular @hmpps prison officer had helped her turn her life around #hiddenheroes

Stealing a pet is not the same as a simple theft. That is why I welcome the pet theft taskforce's recommendation of a new "pet abduction offence" to allow our courts to hand out tougher sentences to those criminals who commit this awful crime

🎡We're backing the events sector with a world-leading insurance scheme🎡

I’ve heard the calls from organisers and this new scheme, worth over £750 million, will help them plan events with confidence through to next year.

Our prison officers are #HiddenHeroes whose quick thinking in testing situations saves lives. Great to see those qualities deployed on the pitch too. Thank you Anthony Taylor

Our brilliant @HMPPS staff work with Britain’s most complex individuals every day.

We invited @ITVnews to see their work to protect the public.

I’m in Scotland today meeting people who were furloughed as the latest stats show that almost 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 people have returned to work since March, with more than half a million people leaving the scheme in June.

Our #PlanforJobs is working
